NO NAME...

“A man who loses a wife is called a widower, a woman who loses a husband is called a widow, a child who loses parents is an orphan, but there is no name for a parent who loses a child - that is how awful it is.” I read this a couple of years ago when a dear friend of mine lost her teen aged daughter. It has stuck with me because it is so true.

Unfortunately, a family who has done so very much for the adoption community is experiencing this horrible loss today. Steven Curtis Chapman (one of my favorite Christian singers and song writers) and wife Mary Beth lost their youngest daughter, Maria through a tragic accident yesterday. Maria is one of three daughters they have adopted from China. They also have three biological children.

As mentioned above, the Chapmans have done so much for the adoption community and started Shaohannah's Hope (an organization that assists families who are in the process of adopting) after they had adopted their first daughter, Shaohannah. They also co-wrote the book "Shaoey and Dot" one of my favorite kids books about adoption. His song "When Love Takes You In" is the song you are hearing while reading this blog, and his song "Cinderella" is Greg and Keeley's favorite song.

I can't even imagine what they are going through and feel compelled to hold on to Keeley and Keegan as if I will never let them go. Please pray for this giving family. They are an awesome Christian example of God's love.

Suddenly my suffering seems so minute.
